Weekend Update

My obsession with all things fall is taking over my life. I just wish everything would come in pumpkin flavour, is that so much to ask? I spent a lot of my weekend focusing on fall-ify-ing my apartment. I bought some baby pumpkins and a very pretty owl snow globe which I found in the Halloween section but will I definitely be letting my owly live in my apartment all year 'round. I also dug through some boxes in the garage for all of our Halloween decorations. I also bought some fall flowers at the farmers market. I'm obsessed but I think it's acceptable because fall is just my favourite. No shame.

This weekend is also a weekend I'd like to refer to as the weekend of three movies. That's right, I saw three movies this weekend. One for each night. As you know, I saw Pitch Perfect on Friday with Erika and then went to The House at the End of the Street with Jordan. Update: House at the End of the Street is kind of lame. Slightly scary but mostly I found it silly. Oh well, it was entertaining. Tonight we saw Dredd because it was Jordan's turn to pick the movie. It was actually pretty entertaining. Not my cup of tea but I wouldn't say it's bad. Next up, Perks of Being a Wallflower. I have loved the book for many years now so of course I'm beyond excited for the movie. I know you are too, people!

Most important of all, I have polka dot pants. Common, who doesn't think they're the cutest?! I had to resist the urge all day to tie my shirt in a knot because I felt like a 1950's pin up in them. So presh. I also bought light beige ones with tiny beige polka dots. More subtle but still fabulous.

So the weekend of three movies has come to a close. I might need to top it some weekend. Oh, goals!

Secret of the Week

I chose this secret for the secret of the week because it's incredibly heartbreaking. I think sometimes we need to let ourselves feel something sad instead of always looking for something to bring our spirits up. This secret really made me feel for whoever wrote this secret. I wonder where they are today.

Happy Saturday Y'all!

This outfit is brought to you by....Friday! I felt mighty cute running around campus yesterday in this ensemble.  Shorts and tights are most definitely my favourite fall trend.

So, yesterday was a gooood day. I had evil teacher day but luckily we worked in groups the whole time. My group was really great and I met a boy in my group who hated the prof as much as I did so I had someone to laugh with for the whole class. Shared hatred really works to bond people! I came home, went to our favourite Vietnamese/Thai restaurant with Jordan and then saw Pitch Perfect with Erika. Seriously, Pitch Perfect is the best movie ever. Erika and I laughed the entire time. Such a feel good!

Today I've been to the market where I bought flowers and baby pumpkins and then ate lunch on the lake with my mom and stepdad. Now I'm lying in bed watching old episodes of The Real World: New Orleans. I can't help it, my obsession with the Real World will never go away! I think Jordan and I are gonna see The House at the End of the Street. I am excited!

Enjoy your Saturday my precious pals!

The Good, The Bad and The Ugly

So...I've seen this on other blogs and I thought I'd try it out. Another option is awkward and awesome Thursday but we'll see how I like this. So here goes...

The Good
I'm running around wearing shorts and tights,
mustard yellow with peter pan collars,
leather boots and my  tres french trench.
I feel infinitely more chic than usual as of lately
and it's all thanks to this fabulous season.

Seeing Pitch Perfect on Friday with Erika.
I couldn't be more excited to see this terribly cheesy chick flick.

Having the day off today
to watch tv, catch up on readings and neglect personal hygiene.

The Bad
The dread I'm feeling for my class this Friday.
Evil teacher for 3 straight hours.

My apartment right now.
I planned to clean it on Tuesday but instead stayed on the couch with Jordan.
No regrets.

Here Comes Honey Boo Boo.
It's classic trash tv from the way the people are portrayed
to the way they so obviously ham it up for the camera.
Sometimes it feels good to be bad.

The Ugly
Me, yesterday,
speed walking through campus while trying to stuff a bagel down my throat
so that I can make it to my class in time while still getting in my "dinner."

The fact that campus is a germ hole right now.
Everywhere I went yesterday I could hear sniffling and
I'm pretty sure I felt myself getting a cold as I stood in a crowded elevator.

The scene of Here Comes Honey Boo Boo I just watched.
She sneezed into her hand and
they continued to roll on her as she sat there for a straight minute
deciding what to do with the snot in her hand.
Hope that painted a beautiful picture for you.

That's all for now pals.

Nail Art

Now, I am aware that this wouldn't exactly be classified as "art" but I'm gonna go ahead and give it the title anyways. I love, love, love nail art. First of all, nail art is so much more fun and interesting than regular nail polish. Second of all, people think you're really impressive when you do something cool and third of all, if you aren't so impressive you can just buy nail polish stickers and trick people into thinking you're talented. Ohhhh yeahhh.

Here are a couple mani's I've done:
Impressed yet? As you can see I have only dared to dabble in the dots and glitter departments. My nail pen is my best friend!

One day when I get the courage I'll attempt these:
Aren't they just the sweetest? Oh I can dream!

Au Revoir

Obsessing over: the fact that the little sea monkey in my big sisters belly is A BOY! I couldn't be any more excited! I can't wait until February when we get to meet the little guy! I am in full obsession mode over this little boy. I constantly am touching my sisters belly and looking at the ultra sounds and talking about what he's probably gonna be like. No on in my family or even close to me has ever had a baby so I'm getting very excited, especially about the fact that this little boy is gonna be my nephew!

Working on: the new scarf I'm making Jordan. It's dark grey and just pure perfection as of right now. Maybe I should have made his scarf first because mine was such a trial and error situation. There are dropped stitches in mine and who knows what else but his is b-e-a-utiful. Silly Jordan gets all the good stuff!

Thinking about: the fact that I forgot to re-apply to the school newspaper. I can almost certainly say that it's probably too late now because I just realized this! I think I'm going to try to call the local newspaper soon and see if I can get something there. I need to do something to get my resume all ready for when I graduate and I really want to make myself someone that my future employers cannot refuse. Graduation is stressful but liberating at the same time.

Listening to: Breaking Amish. Has anyone ever seen this show before!? It's about 1 Mennonite and 4 Amish kids who decide to leave their communities to go live in NYC and experience the world. Leaving their homes meaning being shunned from everybody they've ever known, including their families. It's kind of heartbreaking when you think about it but so brave of them. There are a lot of Amish and Mennonite people living in the country around us so I've always been incredibly fascinated by them. I love seeing what they are really like.

Wishing for: nothing at the moment. It's kind of a nice content feeling so I'm going with it. Ask me tomorrow and my answer may change.

The week is half over my friends! Make the best of it!

'Tis the Season

This year I have decided that fall is by far my favourite season. I'm thinking I'll only love it more after this year when fall won't mean going back to school! Fall is the best season because you get to wear the best clothes, the scenery is the most beautiful and it has my favourite holiday, Halloween! Who doesn't love a holiday where you can be whoever you want to be and you get to eat candy shamelessly and no one has to get stressed out about buying eachother gifts? Oh fall, you are perfect.

Because fall seems to be such a short season I get the feeling that I need to stuff everything I can into it before the whole world takes a long nap by the name of Winter. That is why I find lists to be very necessary. I have one list of things I need to do this fall and one list for the month long movie marathon I plan to have with Jordan. Neither of these lists are even close to being done, especially the movie one! The second October starts these lists will be done and ready to get under way. I can't wait to see you again, fall!

Do you have any suggestions for my lists? I'd love to hear them!

C'est Fini!

Please excuse my late night appearance and notice the fact that my scarf is finally finished! I am beyond happy with how it turned out! Although it probably cost more than a regular scarf would cost and was a lot harder to obtain, I am so proud of it and love it to pieces. It's exactly what I would want in a scarf and even though it may have a few holes in it here and there from dropping a stitch I love it for those little imperfections. I can't wait for someone to ask me where I got it. Now I have to make a scarf for Jordan, then my stepdad and hopefully this winter I'll have time to make another for me. I'm thinking RED!

Weekend Update

This weekend went by WAY too fast, my friends. Friday I finally got the book I ordered from Amazon. I couldn't have been any more excited. Kneller's Happy Campers is the book the movie Wristcutters: A Lover Story based on. If you haven't seen that movie, you need right now. It's so good. Don't let the morbid name scare you off, it's definitely worth a watch...or two. It's one of my favourites. I'm not even going to explain it to you because I think you should just go watch it without me confusing you! Besides getting my book, Friday was kind of a crappy day. I had a long day at school. I had to go to that class with the teacher I hate and he put me in a really bad mood. I hate that this class effects me so much but I just think this professor is so rude and he thinks he's so smart and basically tries to rub everyone's noses in it. Only 10 more classes. Only 10 more classes. Only 10 more classes. I skipped my last class because my contacts were bugging me and I had to stop at the office to bring some paperwork home. There's a lot of construction going on around our office so I had to park at another building. Right when I got out some guy told me I couldn't park there. I tried to explain to him about our office and that I would be in and out in a second and he responded with "DON'T CARE!" I don't know why it bothered me so much but it made me cry once I got back into my car. When I got home I got in my comfiest clothes and cuddled up with Jordan for the rest of the night. What a dumb Friday!

This weekend I was babysitting Clyde so I spent Saturday lounging around with him and we went on a nice long walk after I got home from my workout. In the afternoon I got my peircings out. This put me in kind of a funk again so I got back in those comfy clothes and prepared to loung around for another night. Jordan went out with the boys so I had the night to myself to do a little studying and watch lots of tv.

Yesterday I went to the mall to find some boots, but they didn't have the ones I wanted to I got some boot socks instead to spruce up my current ones. My mom and stepdad got back from Scotland and came bearing gifts! I got new Hunter boots, a few new tops and LOTS of new tights. So exciting. I spent the rest of the night watching old episodes of Seinfeld with Jordan.

Boy what a weekend. It felt like it just started when it was already over. I guess it's a good thing the weekend went fast because it wasn't a particularly wonderful one but what can you do?

Here's to having next weekend make up for it!

Secret of the Week

There were lots of good secrets this week, including one in which someone hopes that the Mayan preditction of doomsday this December will come true. When I read that it kind of put me in a weird mood so that it why I chose this funnier secret today. It's nice to read people's deepest darkest secrets but sometimes I like the mundane secrets that aren't shameful or depressing. So take that doomsday supporter, today I'm choosing to laugh!!

They're Gone

It's official my friends, the microdermals are gone :( I for one, am thoroughly depressed.

Yesterday I worked up all my courage to drag my butt down to the piercers to get them out. I showed the piercer, who is named Jesse, and he thought my left one was rejecting too so we went ahead and decided to take them out. I laid back in the chair, grabbed Jordan's hand and prepared myself for a world of pain. Jesse started with the right piercing. I waited for the excruciating pain but it never came. I felt a little pain but NOTHING compared to the pain when I was getting the ones on my neck out. When he moved onto the left I was feeling no fear...until Jesse began. The left piercing was in there GOOD! It took about a minute to get it out and it was one minute of pure pain. OW! Luckily it was over after that. Now I'm just living in a time I like to call Post-Dermals. Only Spiderman band-aids can try to fill the void for now.

In better news, when I changed my band-aids today it didn't look like there was too much damage so they should heal fine. I'm very sad that they're gone but I guess it had to happen eventually.

So that is the story of the end of the era of microdermals. See you tomorrow my friends when I share the secret of the week and give you my weekend update.

Happy Sunday!

Bye Bye Microdermals

Three years ago I was feeling extra saucy and decided to do this:

For those of you who don't know, these are microdermals. They are piercing impants that look like little cuff links and sit under your skin. For more on them go here. That link shows you exactly how they are put in. Let me tell you, YES IT HURTS. The redeeming quality of these piercings was that they had a very quick healing time. After one day I forgot they were there. I generally didn't get them caught on anything and just loved how they looked. The piercings didn't even get irritated until about a year after I had them. It sucks when you irritate them because they become all red :( After the inital irritation it became easier to hurt them but after a couple of days they would be back to normal.

About a year ago I did this:
(Sorry about the crappy quality) OH MAN DID THESE HURT. I almost didn't get the second one pierced because it was just too painful. I generally loved these piercings because they were so freaking cool but they got caught SO much more than my other dermals and this past summer I got them taken out. Getting them taken out is almost as bad as putting them in. The piercer basically pulls them out. I thought I was dying.

Why am I telling you this? Well my piercings on my chest have started to reject!! I'm beyond sad. I planned on having them for so much longer than this but a lot of people only have them for a year before they start to reject like my ones on my neck did so really, we've had a good run! Even though I'm making these piercings sound horrible I DO LOVE THEM! I really wouldn't recommend them on the neck (even though they are SO badass in that spot) but I do love my chest ones. I've had them so long that I feel like they have started to become a part of who I am. Besides that I really don't want to get them taken out this Saturday. OUCH.

Here is an ode to my piercings. I'll miss you! (Cue sappy music)

If you have any questions or just want to pay your respects to these beautiful little chunks of metal, feel free to contact me! Now I will leave you for a moment of silence.

Obsessing over: my hair. It drives me absolutely nuts my friends. The picture above portrays my newly learned skill of curling my hair with a straightener. I must tell you, I have never been good at doing hair. I usually stick to a few different styles with a new idea thrown into the mix every now and then but I have NEVER been able to curl my hair. Well guess what!? I learned! But it's no easy feat. No word of a lie, that ponytail has a trail of tears behind it. Yes I literally cried because I was so frusterated. It's like I can curl it perfectly for a while and then my mind forgets the technique. Someone the only way it started to curl was if I pulled it super tight and it hurt ALOT so I got frusterated a cried. I need to practice though so I should really toughen up. I got a haircut yesterday and my bangs are driving me nuts and it's feeling very static-y today. I may just shave it all off by the end of the week!
Working on: catching up on my readings. I'm not really behind but to me, it feels like I'm behind. I need to have my readings done BEFORE my class because it just makes me feel better and I have not read for my class tonight yet. My prof also didn't post the readings until a few days ago so I also haven't read for the week before either. Tomorrow will be a long day on the couch, in my pyjamas, surrounded by books!
Thinking about: how my application to the school newspaper didn't go through! SO frusterating. I checked online to see if they'd emailed me and saw that if they didn't send me a confirmation email then it didn't go through so now I have to re-apply. I just hope it's not too late now.
Listening to: the radio and it's not playing anything worth mention right now. I will tell you that when I fall asleep lately I've been listening to some movies. The last couple of nights it's been Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. That movie is seriously in my top ten favourites. Other movies I've been drifting to sleep to: 500 Days of Summer and Like Crazy. I like to fall asleep to movies that are somewhat calm and that I've seen a million times so that I know exactly what's happening even if my eyes are shut. It's probably not good for my sleep but I've never had the healthiest sleeping habits so oh well!
Wishing for: a much craftier life! Since I did my wreath yesterday all I can think about is crafting. I really want my life to be creatively inspired so I think I will start looking up some fun crafts to do for all of the upcoming seasons. I think my first craft will be some bunting! I've been wanting some for my room for a long time so I think I will research some! Stay tuned.!

Wishing everyone a wonderful hump day! Hope it's a smooth transition to the end of the week.

Blame it on the Weather

My motivation is at an all time low these last few days. I haven't worked out since Saturday, I haven't done my readings and all I want to do is curl up on the couch. I'm gonna go ahead and blame it on the weather. It's been rainy and dreary the last few days and this has made me feel very, very lazy. Does that ever happen to you? For me, in the summertime I feel like the world is buzzing all around me and I feel like I need to be buzzing as well, so I find it much easier to run around like a wild woman. Now that it's colder and darker I feel like the world is starting to take a nap and I want to join in too!

Tonight I have to go to school from 4:30 to 8:30pm. My class from 5:30 to 8:30 is giving me some major anxiety. We have to sign up for group projects today and I don't know anyone in the class so I guess I'm just going to have to stand there like an abandoned child hoping somone will adopt me. Why can't we just work alone?? (The girl whined to herself). Luckily I only have to go through this hell tonight and then I can rest until Friday. Tonight I'm going to head straight home, find my comfiest clothes and curl up on the couch in fall's embrace. The season made me do it!

Fall Wreath DIY

Today was my day off and instead of doing my homework, as I should have, I decided to make this beautiful wreath that I had seen different bloggers try their hand at. It was super easy, pretty cheap to make and turned out beautifully, in my humble opinion. It took me about two hours because wrapping the wreath is very redundant and slow but I just watched Sex and the City while I did this so it was still fun.

Here's what you'll need:
In addition to a glue gun I used one medium sized foam wreath, three different colours of fall yarn, orange ribbon, a fake bird and assorted fall coloured buttons. I found all of these at Michael's.

First I wrapped the wreath three quarters of the way with the yellow yarn and then used the last quarter to create a little design.
I did this design as inspired by another bloggers wreath (which I will share with you in a few seconds). When transitioning to a different colour I simply tied a knot in the string and then began wrapping with the new colour. It looked like this:
After that I simply grabbed my glue gun and glued on my buttons, birds and bows. How's that for an alliteration!? And that was that!

And as you know, this is what you get:

Now I do believe I owe a couple of bloggers some recognition. My initial idea came from I'd give you a link to her blog but it's down right now for renovations (if that's what you call it). Here's her wreath:
You can see how much her wreath inspired me!

A Beautiful Mess  also has a tutorial for a wreath which helped me get the logistics of the project. Here how theirs looked:
Pretty gorgeous huh!?

Well I hope you enjoyed my very first DIY! I can't promise that there will be more because most of my crafts usually turn out as busts but never say never!

Weekend Update

Yet again, I find myself reflecting on a jam-packed weekend, and that's just the way I like it. Friday was a very LONG day. I woke up bright and early to get to my 3 hour, 8:30am class. The class looks super interesting and my professor seemed like a pretty laid-back and cool guy, plus he let us leave after a half hour so I was super happy. Since I had LOADS of free time before my 1:30pm class I met my sister and the two toddlers she nannies. While Peighton seemed to be obsessed with me, Everett made it very clear that I was not his favourite this week. Is it normal to feel rejection due to the mood swings of a toddler?? My 1:30 class was torture! It's three hours long and with my LEAST favourite professor of all time. I had him last year and I just really dislike him. He never gives us a break, and  never has slides which means that he stands and talks to us the entire time, usually in a way to prove that he is smarter than us. BOO!

Saturday Jordan and I packed up our bikes and drove to Elora. It's a small town about 35 minutes away that has a beautiful gorge. The drive there is all through the country so we spent the ride pointing out gorgeous old homes and talking about one day maybe fixing up one together. Sometimes we can be adorable. When we got to town we hopped on our bikes and peddaled around looking at even more old and beautiful houses. After that we put our bikes back in the car, drove downtown and popped in and out of cute little shops while sipping our coffees. Then we had a nice little picnic and explored the gorge. It was the perfect afternoon. That evening I went shopping with Erika, had coffee with my friend Trish and then ended the night by having a few friends over for a fire which we sat around talking until 2am. What a day.

Yesterday I went out to lunch with Jordans family. Afterwards we took our full belllies home and Jordan and I watched a documentary on the holocaust. It was one of the most heart-breaking things I've ever seen. After that I half listened to the tv while falling in and out of sleep until dinner, which was of course delicious. I went home around 7:30, put on my comfiest flannel, lit my new Pumpking Cupcake candle and did some reading in between watching episodes of Sex and the City.

Today I'm at work until 3:30 and then have a class from 4:30 until 5:30 so it's really not too rough of a day. I'm looking forward to tomorrow when I have the day off and can spend it cleaning my apartment, doing some readings and watching even more Sex and the City. Oh fall, you've been so wonderful so far!
