Secret of the Week

There were some seriously good secrets this week but this one was my favourite. I just pictured someone who lives in a big city and works as a waiter/waitress and spends all of their free time having fun and exploring the city or is even planning on moving to Europe with only a couple of bucks in their pockets. It's fun to imagine the people who tell the secrets.

What was your favourite this week?

Obsessing over: school. This is not a happy thing of course but it is necessary. Yesterday I spent the entire afternoon getting readings done. It's a bit of a soul-destroyer but it has to be done. This afternoon I have a class from 4:30pm to 5:20pm and then another from 5:30pm to 8:30pm plus I'm working all day today. Oh boy. The hard part isn't going to my classes tonight, the hard part is the fact that on the syllabus for my 3 hour lecture it says that we have assigned readings but there are no required texts for this course. Where do you expect me to find these readings, professor? WHERE!?

Working on: trying to keep a balance in my life. Now that school is here I'm already finding myself being too lazy to do anything. Yesterday I got to sleep in and then I spent most of the morning cleaning my apartment and watching tv. That was nice. To balance that off I spent the rest of the afternoon studying. It was great to feel like I got to do it all yesterday and even better that I started the day with a giant to-do list and crossed EVERYTHING off of it!

Thinking about: my application to the university newspaper. Last night I applied to the student run newspaper at Laurier. I'm really hoping that I get a spot as a writer. It would be great for my resume but I'm also scared about the fact that I won't know anyone on the paper and will have to go to meetings. I'll also have to approach people on campus to interview them for stories and I am WAY too socially inhibited for that. I am so akward around people I don't know. It's a curse. Mostly I hope that writing for the paper won't be putting too much on my plate but I do REALLY want this!

Listening to: We Will Never Ever Get Back Together. I'm sorry but this song is my #1 guilty pleasure right now. It's a bit moronic but it's stuck in my head all of the time lately so I think I will just go with it! Also did you see Taylor Swift perform it at the VMA's? Good God she looked wonderful. I need to immediately run out and buy a red striped shirt and some matching red lipstick!

Wishing for: a good semester a head of me. I hope that I can keep up on my readings and just try my best to come out with straight A's! I have to keep reminding myself that it's only 8 months until I'm free from school forever! That will be a wonderful day!

To those who are back in school, I wish you all good luck and to everyone else..I'm jealous!

Weekend Update

Holy moly I have no idea how I managed to fit so much into one weekend but boy was it fun! Friday night was spent eating thai food with Jordan and watching Scream. So good.

Saturday we traveled to Toronto because Jordan's watch broke. I'll take any excuse to get into the city so we trekked downtown where I took the opportunity to go into a gourmet grocery store. When I saw their macaroons I knew I had to try some! I'm obsessed. They are the fluffiest, most delicious little bites of heaven I've ever tasted and I felt very french eating them. C'est bon! Saturday night was a friend's party. It was outside and therefore very cold and wet but it was still fun to see lots of people.

Yesterday I spent the afternoon making peanut butter balls with my Grandma. OH MY they are my favourite. Reese's Peanut Butter Cups you better watch your back! And finally, I spent the evening at the Toronto International Film Festival with my two best friends!  Erika and I were really set on spotting some celebs. When we couldn't get any tickets to any of the big movies we grabbed tickets to the best thing we could find which happened to be The Deflowering of Eva Van End. It was WEIRD. It was set in Holland and half of it was in subtitles but it was actually a pretty interesting story about a family with a lot of problems who take in an exchange student from Germany who is seemingly perfect and kind of disrupts their lives because he shows them what they missing. We didn't get to see any celebs but it was cool to be a part of TIFF and I think next year the three of us will get a package with 10 tickets in it so we can see lots of movies.

I didn't get home until 1am last night and woke up at 6:45 this morning so I am SO tired. I have my first day of school today. Needless to say, I am less than enthused. I can't wait to go home, take a LONG nap and then stay up as late as I want because I am FREE tomorrow.

Happy Monday my friends!

Secret of the Week

I have decided to do a weekly Postsecret Feature. I have already talked about my love of Postsecret here. Every Sunday the Postsecret blog posts new secrets and I thought that every Monday I would share my favourite secret of the week with you! I love this one because it is something I find myself thinking a lot and then immediately get back to focusing on the inconsequential details of every day life. Maybe one day this thought will make me run away to Paris or something.

Go check out this weeks secrets and feel free to share which one was your favourite. There are some good ones in there this week!

Today is a Wednesday Disguised as a Thursday

Have you ever had one of those days where you have to keep reminding yourself what day of the week it is? Well I'm having that today. It feels weirdly like a Thursday but it is in fact, a Wednesday. No complaints here because I don't work the rest of the week so that means more days off and more days between me and the first day of school.

I haven't worked at all this week and instead have been hiding from the rain, watching old episodes of Girls and taking impromptu trips to Ikea. Last night my best friend and I took said trip to the Swedish furniture heaven because she's re-doing her room. Of course I couldn't just watch her spend money, I had to get in on the fun too. The result was that I came home $70 poorer awith my hands full of things I didn't need but obviously HAD TO HAVE. Oh Ikea, I still love you.

I only have to work until 2:30 this afternoon which is completely awesome. My new school schedule is the bees knees if I do say so myself. What's better than getting to miss rush hour? Nothing. I think I will drag my butt to a spin class this evening and then try to think of a way to make my last weekend of summer count. Any suggestions?

Well, I really should get back to work seeing as I've been here a half an hour and have done nothing so far!

My Love

Please allow me to introduce you to Jordan. I've mentioned him MANY times on here but this is the first time I've ever shared his name with you. I feel it's time.

Now let me tell you a couple of things about Mr.Jordan and I. We went to high school together and were part of a tight group of 8 friends. After Prom 60 of us went to a bunch of cottages in Wasaga and that weekend Jordan and I really clicked for the first time. We tried seeing what would come of it over the summer but it didn't work out. I went off to Ottawa that fall, a six hour car ride away, and he stayed in Hespeler. Even though we were far away we continued to talk almost every single day and every time I came home I couldn't help but feel that our relationship bordered on more than friendship. When our group of 8 decided to go to Montreal over Christmas break that year I was really excited. The seven of them picked me up in Ottawa and we all ran off to enjoy the 18 year old drinking age. Long story short, Jordan and I left Montreal a couple! Finally admitting our feelings turned out to be the easy part because we now found ourselves in a long distance relationship. We talked every single day and skyped every night but it was so hard. I came home once and sometimes twice a month for the entire second semester. It was one of the hardest things I ever had to do but it made us so strong as a couple. We built so much trust during this time and fell in love while separated by all those miles. When the semester was over I made the decision to try to transfer home. My heart was no longer in Ottawa. While Jordan wasn't the only reason I decided to move home, he was a big part of it.

Now Mr. Jordan and I have been together for almost three years! We've grown up and changed so much together and I love him so much. You'll probably be hearing lots more about him so I thought I'd finally let you know who the real man is that I've been referring to as "the boyfriend" all this time.

Thanks for listening!

Rainy Days

The weekend is over now and I'm back to real life...well kind of. We moved my schedule around so that now I work Mondays and Wednesdays and have no school OR work on Tuesdays or Thursdays. This is going to be an amazing semester. That means that I got paid to stay home yesterday and now have today off. Today is a very rainy Tuesday. I wanted to ride my bike to the bike shop downtown but I'm thinking the rain may keep me inside. I also kind of enjoy the idea of throwing my hair into a topknot, jumping into my Hunters, slipping on my trench coat and coasting down to the bike shop so we will see just how determined I am!

That's all for today because it's just one of those lazy days. I think I'm going to start introducing you to some special people in my life so stay tuned for that!
